Health Services

At Two Roads, student health and safety are a top priority. Our well-trained staff, including clinic aides, work closely under the supervision of a registered nurse to support a wide range of student health needs, including the safe administration of prescription medications. All health services are provided with care, professionalism, and strict attention to confidentiality. Through clear protocols and collaborative oversight, our team ensures a safe, responsive, and supportive environment where students can focus on learning and thriving.

Student Health and Medications

Accidents & Injuries
If an accident happens at school, it should be reported to the Clinic Aide right away. Students receive care based on the injury—minor bumps and scrapes are cleaned and bandaged, while parents are contacted immediately for more serious situations. Emergency medical services will be called if needed.

Health Office Support
Each campus has a Clinic Aide, working under the guidance of a Registered Nurse from Children’s Hospital. Families should share any health concerns during enrollment through the Campus Parent Portal or notify the Clinic Aide as needs arise.
The Health Office provides first aid and checks in with students who feel ill. Please ensure a parent or designated adult is available to pick up a sick student within 30 minutes of being contacted. Students with a fever of 100°F or higher should stay home.

Medications at School
All prescription and over-the-counter medications must be brought to the Health Office with a completed medication form and kept in the original labeled container. Medications cannot be given without proper paperwork. Students may carry cough drops.

Students may carry medication with them only if:

  • A doctor provides written confirmation it is necessary

  • Parents submit a letter accepting responsibility

  • Approval is granted by the Registered Nurse

Medical Forms

Jeffco families must submit a medical provider-signed agreement if their student requires medication during the school day.

Health Services in Jeffco

Jeffco Public Schools' Department of Health Services provides health consultation and resources to support students and their families.

Each school has a district Registered Nurse (RN) who consults with students, families, school staff and administration. Ask your student’s school for their district RN contact details and notify the RN if your student has a health need that requires support during the school day.

Each school also has a school health aide who does day-to-day care of students such as medication, Band-Aids, and ice.

Keep your student’s health concerns updated at registration and as conditions change during the school year. It is important for Jeffco to have current contact information of families.

When Students and Staff Should Stay Home

Jeffco follows the recommendations from Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) on when students and staff should stay home from school, work or childcare. District RNs provide guidance to school administration following the How Sick is Too Sick document.

The best ways to stop the spread of infection is through good hand washing and staying home when sick.

Immunizations

Colorado law requires all students attending Colorado schools and licensed childcare centers to be vaccinated against certain diseases unless a medical or non-medical exemption is filed.

For information about vaccine requirements, resources and exemptions, visit the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment’s School-Required Vaccines page.
