Jessica Branch grew up visiting historic sites with her family, but it was not until late middle school and high school that she really began to love history.  An excellent US History teacher in 11th grade contributed to Jessica’s desire to study history in college.  As a college student at Shorter College, now Shorter University, in Rome, GA, Jessica pursued a major in history and political science.  She also decided to minor in secondary education, just in case she ever wanted to teach.  While student teaching her senior year of college, Jessica discovered how much she enjoyed being in the classroom and sharing her love of history with students.

After graduating with honors, Jessica taught history and drama part-time to elementary and middle school students at a private school in Louisville, KY for 1 year, while also working part time at a bookstore and taking a few graduate classes.  The following year, Jessica moved to Raleigh, NC and began a teaching job at GRACE Christian School.  During her 3 years at GRACE, Jessica taught a variety of classes - World History I, World History II, AP US History, ELP (Economics, Law, and Politics), Theater, and Logic.  She learned much by developing curriculum, teaching a variety of students, directing plays, and sewing costumes.

When her oldest child was born, Jessica decided to take a break from formal teaching to invest in her family and community.  In this season, Jessica invested in her children, read countless children’s books, guided her children through transition, and worked on her sewing, cooking, and gardening skills.  Her love for history and teaching remained strong.

After moving to and getting settled in Colorado, Jessica decided the time was right to pursue teaching history again, especially if she could find a job that would allow her to teach part-time. Jessica began teaching middle and high school social studies at Two Roads Charter School in 2015.  She teaches World Area Studies, Early US History, Modern US History, Geography/Government, and World History.  When she isn’t teaching or caring for her family, Jessica enjoys reading and investing in her community.  Jessica still visits historic sites, but now she brings husband and children along, with the hope of passing on her love of history.
