Determining the mission and purposes of the organization • selecting and evaluating the performance of the Principal • strategic and organizational planning • ensuring strong fiduciary oversight and financial management • approving and monitoring Two Roads programs and services • enhancing Two Roads public image • assessing its own performance as the governing body of Two Roads

Expectations of individual board members

Each individual board member is expected to • know the organization’s mission, policies, programs, and needs • faithfully read and understand the organization’s financial statements • serve as active advocates and ambassadors for Two Roads and fully engage in identifying and securing the financial resources and partnerships necessary for Two Roads to advance its mission • leverage connections, networks, and resources to develop collective action to fully achieve Two Roads mission • prepare for, attend, and conscientiously participate in board meetings • participate fully in one or more committees Board Member

Board members are also expected to

Follow the organization’s bylaws, policies, and board resolutions • sign an annual conflict-of-interest disclosure and update it during the year if necessary, as well as disclose potential conflicts before meetings and actual conflicts during meetings • maintain confidentiality about all internal matters of Two Roads

Board membership at Two Roads includes parents or legal guardians of traditionally-educated students (enrolled full-time), parents or legal guardians of home-educated students (enrolled at either the Arvada or Littleton campus), a non-parent community member, a teacher/non-administrative staff member, and an individual who can be either a parent of a traditionally-educated student or a non-parent community member. Directors, elected for three-year terms, contribute diverse talents to benefit the school, supporting school choice and the right to homeschool.

We're seeking leaders whose skills align with our strategies, goals, and future needs. The board, a policy-setting group, directs rather than manages the school. Qualifications include agreement with our Vision and Mission Statements, support for our educational philosophy and administrative structure, completion of 30 Board Modules, monthly meeting attendance, commitment to a 3-year term, and a dedication to sustaining and supporting students without micromanaging day-to-day operations.
