Two Roads was founded in 2000. Originally called the Home Option Program for Education (HOPE and the predecessor to Two Roads Charter School) was created to serve the distinct needs and diverse perspectives of homeschooling students and their families. It offered small, academically rigorous classes in a community characterized by mutual respect and support. HOPE’s founders clearly understood the possibilities and limitations of the relationship between a publicly-funded educational program and a home based education.

In 2007 we opened a second homeschool campus in Littleton where we continue operations to this day. From a beginning of only a hundred or so students, HOPE, now Two Roads, grew and flourished, currently serving over 600 students at both locations, Arvada and Littleton.

HOPE operated under several Jeffco charter schools before applying for its own charter in 2009. The program’s success demanded a level of stability best achieved through a permanent relationship with a single charter school. The application process necessitated expanding the student demographic to include full-time, traditionally-educated students.

By late summer 2010, our program welcomed the first group of full-time high school students. A year later, our charter was expanded to include traditional-path middle school students. In 2016, Two Roads added full-time 1st-5th grade elementary students. This addition was made to address the need for an adaptive educational schedule for the elite athletes at 5280 Gymnastics in Wheat Ridge, Colorado. Finally, in 2018, we added full-time kindergarten, making Two Roads a comprehensive K-12 program.

From its inception, Two Roads has forged dual trails upon the common ground shared by two very diverse and dynamic communities. Homeschoolers and non-homeschoolers alike who value academic dedication, respectful conduct, thoughtful discourse, small class sizes, and the ability to problem solve and think creatively, share a home at Two Roads.
