THESE SHINING LIVES chronicles the strength and determination of women considered expendable in their day, exploring their true story and its continued resonance. Catherine and her friends are dying, it's true; but theirs is a story of survival in its most transcendent sense, as they refuse to allow the company that stole their health to kill their spirits—or endanger the lives of those who come after them (Dramatists Play Service).

The women featured in this play represent the factory workers from the 1920s who were employed to paint watch dials with radium. Having no idea that radium was toxic, these women would tip their paintbrushes with their mouths and ingested large amounts of the substance. Victims of radium poisoning, they would quite literally glow in the dark on their walks home from work and later suffered from dire health consequences as a result.

This production will feature 2 men and 4 women with the possibility of other supporting female roles. Performance dates are scheduled in early May.
